The Rich Get Richer: Granderson Headed to Yankees???

It is rumored that Curtis Granderson is on his way to the Yankees in a three-team deal that would also involve pitchers Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy going to Arizona.  In return, exciting young pitchers Daniel Schlereth and Max Scherzer would be sent to the Tigers.  What all this means for Johnny Damon’s and Melky Cabrera’s days in New York is still an open question.

My first impression is that this deal is a big “thumbs up” for both the Yankees and the Tigers.  However, I think I would even have a hard time dealing Jackson and Kennedy for Scherzer and Schlereth in my fantasy league this upcoming season.  I mean, Jackson did well last season, but I got him nearly at the end of my draft when some other morons were trying to choose between J.R. Towles and Josh Bard.  Get it?  Total fluke.

In the hopes of correcting the pitching problems that have plagued him, well, since the beginning of his major league career, Oliver Perez has had surgery on his right knee to remove scar tissue from his patella tendon.  During the course of this surgery, doctors hope to remove all of the suck as well.  Between you and me, I have heard that removing scar tissue from one’s knee can remedy pitching mechanics.  The little boy who lives on my shoulder told me that.

I must add, another brilliant job by the genius also known as Omar Minaya.  How many overpriced, underwhelming players can one team have?

Not only does your baseball team blow, but apparently your entire town sucks a big fat one.  Not that it’s a big surprise…

Hey, it could be worse…at least your superstar basketball player isn’t counting the days till he moves to New York…oh wait…

Mets VP of Player Development Has Really Bad Day

Who shit in this guy’s cereal? Earlier this month, it has been reported that the Mets’ VP of Player Development, Tony Bernazard, challenged players on the Double-A affiliate to a fight during a postgame tirade. This story writes itself:

“The New York Daily News, citing unidentified sources, reported Wednesday that Bernazard, while visiting the Binghamton Mets early this month, removed his shirt during a clubhouse meeting with players, then challenged them to fisticuffs. Bernazard reportedly directed much of his anger at infielder Jose Coronado, the newspaper said.” (NBC Sports)

Both the Mets’ AAA and AA affiliates are pretty awful this season, having the worst and second worst records in their Leagues, respectfully, so this guy is obviously worried about losing more than his cool. It is pretty clear that the Mets lack a deep farm system.

All I know is that I wish Tony was my boyfriend. I love it when guys take off their shirts before they fight. It reminds me of hanging out at the frat houses on a Thursday night. Ahhh… When I picture it, in my dreams tonight, he will have chest hair up to his throat and 3 gold chains. Dreamy…
